Lesson 18: New Note - "Second Octave Forked F"
The back, or thumb, octave key is used for all notes from the E just below this F up to the G-sharp just above it.

This is the "forked" fingering for the second octave F. Notice that it is nearly identical to the first octave forked F, with the addition of the teardrop-shaped octave key pressed by the left thumb on the back of the oboe.
