Lesson 17: New Note - "Forked F"
Your oboe is most likely a student-model instrument. If you are lucky enough to have a professional-model oboe, try playing forked F without pressing the E-flat key. Does it sound the same?
Notes used in this lesson:
F |
G |
A |
B♭ |
C |
D |
This is the forked fingering for the first octave F. Depending on what type of oboe you have, there may be other ways to play "F," but this is a good way on most student-model oboes to play F when coming from or moving to D or E♭.

Don't forget to use the "half hole" technique when playing the second octave D!
